चंपावत उत्तरांखंड का एक जिला है। चंपावत जिला अपने आकर्षक मंदिरों और खूबसूरत वास्तुशिल्प के लिए में प्रसिद्ध है। जनपद में पहाड़ों व मैदानों के बीच से होकर बहती नदियां अद्भुत छटा बिखेरती हैं। चंपावत वन्यजीव, प्राकृतिक पर्यटन, देशाटन, वनस्पति और प्राकृतिक सुंदरता से ओत-प्रोत स्थान है।
चम्पावत को कुमाऊं की उत्पत्ति का नगर माना जाता है। कला, संस्कृति, रहन-सहन और विभिन्न सरोकार यहां पुष्पित व पल्लवित हुए। सातवीं सदी के आसपास खेतीखान के निकट शोनितपुर के कत्यूरी राजा ने अपनी पुत्री चम्पा का विवाह कर इस इलाके को अपने दामाद सोमचंद को सौंपा था। झूसी इलाहाबाद से आए चंदवंशीय राजाओं ने इसे अपनी राजधानी बनाया और यहां से पूरे कुमाऊं गढ़वाल सहित तराई भावर तक अपने साम्राज्य का विस्तार किया। इस दौरान उन्होंने चम्पावत के ईद-गिर्द कई निर्माण कराए। जिनमें राजा सोमचंद ने सातवीं सदी के आस-पास बालेश्वर मंदिर समूह का निर्माण कराया। खुजराहो शैली में बालेश्वर मंदिर समूह का निर्माण हुआ है। पत्थरों में तराशी गई विभिन्न मूर्तियों के साथ ही क्रीडारत 64 योगनियों की मूर्ति कलाकारों ने बेहद खूबसूरती से उकेरी है। इस मंदिर समूह में आधा दर्जन से ज्यादा शिवलिंग स्थापित हैं। मुख्य शिवलिंग स्फुटिक का है। जो अपनी चमत्कारिक शक्ति के लिए आस्था का केन्द्र बना हुआ है। इसके अलावा मंदिर में काल भैरव, चंपा देवी आदि की मूर्तियां भी स्थापित हैं। वर्तमान में संरक्षण के अभाव में मंदिर जीर्ण-शीर्ण हो रहा है। बावजूद इसके यहां वर्ष श्रद्धालुओं का तांता लगा रहता है और सावन के महीने में तो विशेषकर सोमवार को सैकड़ों भक्तों की भीड़ सुबह से ही जुट जाती है। मान्यता है कि शिवलिंग पर जलाभिषेक करने से निरूसंतान दंपती को संतान की प्राप्ति होती है।

बालेश्रवर मंदिर
बालेश्वर महादेव मंदिर
यह मंदिर भगवान शिव को समर्पित है। इस मंदिर का निर्माण चांद शासन ने करवाया था। इस मंदिर की वास्तुकला काफी सुंदर है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि बालेश्रवर मंदिर का निर्माण 10-12 ईसवीं शताब्दी में हुआ था।
शानि देवता मंदिर
यह मंदिर चंपावत जिले के मौराड़ी गॉव में स्थित है, जो कि चंपावत से आगे बनलेख के समीप में ही है। यह मनोकामना मंदिर है, इस मंदिर में आकर भक्तजन अपनी मनोकामना वक्त करते हैँ और उनकी मनोकामना अवश्य पुर्ण होती है। यह मंदिर अति रमणीय है तथा इस मंदिर का परिसर अति सुन्दर है। आप भी आकर पुण्य कमायें। यहॉ के पुजारी श्री घनश्याम जोशी जी सदा देव पर्वोँ में यहॉ आकर भक्तोँ का मनोबल बढ़ाते हैं।
नागनाथ मंदिर
इस मंदिर में की गई वास्तुकला काफी खूबसूरत है। यह कुंमाऊं के पुराने मंदिरों में से एक है।
मीठा-रीठा साहिब
यह सिक्खों के प्रमुख धार्मिक स्थानों में से एक है। यह स्थान चम्पावत से 72 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित है। कहा जाता है कि सिक्खों के प्रथम गुरू, गुरू नानक जी यहां पर आए थे। यह गुरूद्वारा जहां पर स्थित है वहां लोदिया और रतिया नदियों का संगम होता है। गुरूद्वार परिसर पर रीठे के कई वृक्ष लगे हुए है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि गुरू के स्पर्श से रीठा मीठा हो जाता है। गुरूद्वारा के साथ में ही धीरनाथ मंदिर भी है। बैसाख पूर्णिमा के अवसर पर यहां मेले का आयोजन किया जाता है।
पूर्णनागिरी मंदिर
यह पवित्र मंदिर पूर्णनागिरी पर्वत पर स्थित है। यह मंदिर टनकपुर से 20 किलोमीटर और चम्पावत जिला मुख्यालय से 92 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित है। पूरे देश से काफी संख्या में भक्तगण इस मंदिर में आते हैं। इस मंदिर में सबसे अधिक भीड़ चैत्र नवरात्रों (मार्च-अप्रैल) में होती है। यहां से काली नदी भी प्रवाहित होती है जिसे शारदा के नाम से जाना जाता है।
श्यामलातल
यह जगह चम्पावत से 56 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित है। इसके साथ ही यह स्थान स्वामी विवेकानन्द आश्रम के लिए भी प्रसिद्ध है जो कि खूबसूरत श्यामातल झील के तट पर स्थित है। इस झील का पानी नीले रंग का है। यह झील 1.5 वर्ग किलोमीटर तक फैली हुई है। इसके अलावा यहां लगने वाला झूला मेला भी काफी प्रसिद्ध है।
पंचेश्रवर
यह स्थान नेपाल सीमा के समीप स्थित है। इस जगह पर काली और सरयू नदियां आपस में मिलती है। पंचेश्रवर भगवान शिव के मंदिर के लिए अत्यंत प्रसिद्ध है। काफी संख्या में भक्तगण यहां लगने वाले मेलों के दौरान आते हैं। और इन नदियों में डूबकी लगाते हैं।
देवीधुरा
यह जगह चम्पावत से 45 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित है। यह खूबसूरत जगह वराही मंदिर के नाम से जानी जाती है। यहां बगवाल के अवसर पर दो समूह आपस में एक दूसरे पर पत्थर फेकते हैं। यह अनोखी परम्परा रक्षा बन्धन के अवसर की जाती है।
लोहाघाट
यह ऐतिहासिक शहर चम्पावत से 14 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित है। यह स्थान लोहावती नदी के तट पर स्थित है। यह जगह अपनी प्राकृतिक सुंदरता के लिए भी काफी प्रसिद्ध है। इसके अलावा यह स्थान गर्मियों के दौरान यहां लगने वाले बुरास के फूलों के लिए भी प्रसिद्ध है।
अब्बोट माउंट
अब्बोट माउंट बहुत ही खूबसूरत जगह है। इस स्थान पर ब्रिटिश काल के कई बंगले मौजूद है। यह खूबसूरत जगह लोहाघाट से 11 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित है। इसके अलावा यह जगह 2001 मीटर की ऊंचाई पर स्थित है।

In spite of this, devotees of Lord Vishnu are worshiping the year, and hundreds of devotees gather in the month of Savan, especially on Monday, from morning till morning. It is believed that by burning rituals on Shivling, the child receives the child from the rarest couple.Champawat is situated at an altitude of 1,615 meters above sea level. Champawat has been the capital of the Kumaon rulers for many years. Remains of the fort of the chaad rulers are still found in Champawat.
